The E10e All Electric Mini Excavator has arrived at Bobcat Central

With a light and compact zero tail swing design, near-silent operation and zero emissions, the E10e provides the same “or even better” performance as its diesel counterpart the E10, and it can be operated with all E10 attachments. The machine is powered by a lithium-ion battery pack that is maintenance-free and can operate throughout an 8-hour work day using operator breaks to recharge the batteries. The good news on charging is that you can recharge 80 percent of the 1-ton excavator’s battery in less than 2 hours. Inside the cab, operators will find joystick control with variable positioning, electronically activated control for track expansions, two speeds and LED lighting. The cab also features a console display with rpm, motor hours, battery capacity, temperature gauge, selected speed and error codes. Plus, the new machine is easy to maintain and safe to operate – thanks to the exclusive use of low voltages, there is no need for operators to have special authorization to work with the E10e.

All-Electric vs. Diesel - What's the Difference?

If you’ve ever passed an active construction site, most of the heavy machinery you saw was likely powered by diesel fuel. While diesel-powered construction equipment is still overwhelmingly dominant in the U.S., all-electric models are becoming more prominent than you might think — and they tend to blend right in.

When it comes to overall performance capabilities, all-electric equipment is almost identical to its diesel counterpart. The Bobcat E10e, for example, has specifications are the same as their diesel versions. The only differences include a marginally higher operating weight and a small increase in bucket digging force for their electric equipment.

The biggest differences between electric and diesel equipment can be found under the hood. Instead of containing a diesel engine and cooling fan, electric equipment contains rechargeable lithium-ion battery packs. Some electric equipment also lacks the traditional hydraulics systems found in their diesel counterparts. Bobcat's E10e and soon-to-be-available T7X Electric Loader, for example, both uses electromechanical linear actuators to power the boom rather than hydraulics.
